Canyon Vista Medical Center

Old Dominion Firestopping was contracted to install all joint/penetration firestopping, smoke and acoustical sealants on the Canyon Vista Medical Center project. This 177,000 square foot replacement facility is located in a remote location about 15 miles from the US/Mexican border. The hospital has 106 Private Patient Rooms, Emergency Services with a Level III Trauma Unit, Surgical Suites, Adult Psychiatric Unit, Rehabilitation Services, and Advanced Diagnostic Imaging Services providing critical services for residence of the San Pedro River Valley.
Old Dominion Firestopping completed this project with JE Dunn in March 2015 and had zero incidents/injuries.
Gulf Coast Medical Center
Panama City, FL
Old Dominion Firestopping provided firestopping at all through-penetrations as well as smoke and acoustical sealants for medical gas piping on the 80,000-square-foot addition and renovation to an existing hospital.
Due to project phasing, multiple mobilizations occurred and close coordination between the trades was key to the project success.
Completed in 2014, the project finished on time with zero injuries. Old Dominion Firestopping contracted with Marathon Electric, L Pugh Fire Protection, Pevco and Comfort Systems USA to perform the work. JE Dunn was the general contractor.
Poinciana Medical Center
Orlando, FL
Old Dominion Firestopping provided firestopping, fire resistive joints and smoke sealants at all through-penetrations on the 111,000-square-foot inpatient and outpatient care center, which includes surgery, laboratory, pharmacy, diagnostic imaging and cardiac catheterization. The facility includes 24 private medical-surgical beds, a six-bed ICU, an 11,000-square-foot emergency department with a helicopter pad. Additionally, the campus houses a 42,000-square-foot medical office building.
ODF was also contracted separately through the individual trades to complete all acoustical sealants at joints and through-penetrations.
Completed in 2013, the project finished on time with zero injuries. Old Dominion Firestopping contracted with the general contractor, Robins and Morton, to perform the work.
INOVA Women’s Hospital Addition
Fairfax, VA
Old Dominion Firestopping constructed perimeter fire containment systems behind curtainwall and architectural precast on the 650,000-square-foot hospital addition. This expansive project was constructed on an active hospital campus making deliveries and storage challenging.
Scheduled for completion in 2015, the project is on schedule with zero injuries. Old Dominion Firestopping is contracting with Service Glass and Manganaro to perform the work. Clark Construction is the general contractor.
Poplar Bluff Medical Center
Poplar Bluff, MO
Old Dominion Firestopping provided firestopping and fire resistive expansion joints at all through-penetrations for this fast-paced project. The seven-story, 420,000-square-foot replacement hospital was completed in only 15 months. The state-of-the-art, 250-bed facility is situated on a 64-acre campus. The project includes support services, material management, pharmacy, lab, dietary services, emergency department, outpatient surgery, surgical services, imaging, intensive care unit and a women’s center.
ODF was able to meet the aggressive construction schedule while providing a quality project. This project required major coordination efforts with multiple contractors, which ODF recognized and was able to successfully execute.
Completed in 2013, the project finished early with zero injuries. Old Dominion Firestopping contracted with Marrs Electric, Ivey Mechanical, CommNet, North Star Fire Protection and MJ Harris to perform the work. MJ Harris was the general contractor.
Nashville VA Medical Center Fourth Floor Research Lab
Nashville, TN
Old Dominion Firestopping constructed a perimeter fire containment system at the existing curtainwall system. This was a challenging and unique project due to the curtainwall system having oversized panes and no access from the floor below. To overcome this challenge, ODF prefabricated the spandrel insulation frame system and secured the system in place from the floor above. This required close coordination with the manufacturer to keep the project on schedule.
Completed in 2012, the project finished on time with zero injuries. Old Dominion Firestopping contracted with Double R Construction to perform the work.
Sentara Rockingham Memorial Hospital
Harrisonburg, VA
Old Dominion Firestopping provided firestopping, smoke sealant and acoustical sealants at all through-penetrations on the 630,000-square-foot, 238-bed full-service replacement hospital. The greenfield facility was constructed on a 254-acre site and achieved LEED Gold certification.
Completed in 2010, the project finished on time with zero injuries. Old Dominion Firestopping contracted with Bovis Lend Lease to perform the work.
Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center
Fredericksburg, VA
Old Dominion Firestopping provided Firestopping services for HCA’s 282,358-square-foot Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center. The facility is a general acute care hospital with 126-beds and all rooms are private and provide a wide range of in- and outpatient services, including 24-hour emergency care, obstetrics, diagnostic imaging, intensive care, cardiac catheterization and psychiatric care.
Completed in 2010, the project finished on time with zero injuries. Old Dominion Firestopping contracted with ColonialWebb Contractors to perform the work. R.J. Griffin/JeDunn was the general contractor.
Stafford Hospital Center
Stafford, VA
Old Dominion Firestopping provided Firestopping services for a 266,200-square-foot addition, seven-story hospital and central utility plant on a 70-acre site. The project included 100 patient beds, operating rooms, an emergency department, a radiology department and a kitchen/dining area, as well as the future planned expansion and erection of several ancillary service buildings.
The project finished on time with zero injuries. Old Dominion Firestopping contracted with ColonialWebb and Trainor Glass to perform the work. Whiting Turner was the general contractor.
Southeastern Health Park
Lumberton, NC
Old Dominion Firestopping provided Firestopping services for the three-story, 60,000-square-foot project. The facility features an ambulatory surgery center with four operating rooms and practices for orthopedic, GI, pain management and physical therapy.
Completed in 2014, the project finished on time with zero injuries. Old Dominion Firestopping contracted with Smith’s Refrigeration to perform the work. R&M was the general contractor.
Southside Regional Hospital
Petersburg, VA
Old Dominion Firestopping provided Firestopping services for the five-story, 420,000-square-foot healthcare facility with 300 patient rooms, eight operating rooms, 14 gero-psychiatric rooms, a 28-bid intensive care unit and a full labor and delivery unit.
Completed in 2008, the project finished on time with zero injuries. Old Dominion Firestopping contracted with Atlantic Constructors to perform the work. Bovis Lend Lease was the general contractor.
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital
Midlothian, VA
Old Dominion Firestopping provided Firestopping services for the seven-story, 245,000-square-foot acute care hospital and an attached 150,000-square-foot medical office building. The hospital has 158-bed hospital features a full range of medical and surgical services, 130 private patient rooms, 10 all-digital surgical suites, a complete line of women’s health services, 24-hour emergency care and all-digital radiology and diagnostics.
The first floor serves as the main entrance to the grand lobby from the piazza motor court. The second floor serves as the upper-level entrance to the grand lobby, and houses the surgery, endoscopy, cardiac catheterization center. The third floor includes the critical care and acute care units. Fourth and fifth floor services include acute care, with the fourth floor of the medical office building housing the physical rehabilitation unit.
Completed in 2005, the project finished on time with zero injuries. Built on a 46-acre campus, it is the first new hospital built in Chesterfield County in more than 20 years.
