University of Richmond Robins Center Renovation
Richmond, VA
Old Dominion Firestopping provided firestopping at all through-penetrations for the renovations of the 1970’s arena. The renovations to the main arena of the Robins Center included new state-of-the-art LED lighting, four video boards, scoreboards, refurbished seats, new premium seating options, terrace hospitality areas, a refinished court and renovated restrooms. The video boards are the largest in the Atlantic 10 conference. The Robins Center also added a new center-hung LED ribbon board and courtside LED displays. The men’s and women’s locker rooms and lounges were modernized and upgraded with state-of-the art amenities.
The sports complex houses the University of Richmond’s athletic squads and serves as the home for University of Richmond basketball.
Completed in 2013, the project finished on time with zero injuries. Old Dominion Firestopping contracted with Colonial Webb Contractors to perform the work. Barton Malow was the general contractor.
James Madison University Bridgeforth Stadium Expansion
Harrisonburg, VA
Old Dominion Firestopping provided Firestopping services for the stadium expansion including the demolition of the existing west stands, removal of the track, and the construction of a two-tiered complex with approximately 14,000 seats. A new, single-tiered North End Zone Grandstand with approximately 5,400 seats was connected to the new West Grandstand. In addition to increasing seating, the expansion included the construction of a larger video and scoreboard, the addition of 17 luxury suites, an 8,000-square-foot club lounge with chairback seating, a 6,500-square-foot press box, concessions, commercial kitchen and commissary facility.
Completed in 2011, the project finished on time with zero injuries. Old Dominion Firestopping contracted with Riddleberger Brothers to perform the work. Donley’s Inc. was the general contractor.
